169 Troop Week 21

The week started lecture heavy, with lectures from the assault engineers followed by a written test before lunch. On Monday afternoon we had practical lessons with the assault engineers covering vehicle and person searches.
Tuesday we started our Exercise Urban Warrior, which covered close quarter battle drills, teaching us how to enter rooms that enemies may or may not be occupying the correct way, whether the rooms had doors open or closed, of different shapes, with furniture and some of which lead to other rooms that needed clearing. We also learnt how to clear corridors; we now know the correct technique in how to do so. This filled the week up until Friday with the exception of Thursday morning when we were treated by the training team to a 8 mile criteria test load carry in the early hours. Finally on Friday we went to 40 Cdo RM and put into practice the techniques we had learnt in the week, with the Troop clearing a mock village of Janesville successfully.
