170 TROOP WEEKLY DIARIES
164 Troop’s Final Exercise was well under way, with the recruits engaging in contact against a simulated enemy in a multitude of attacks that encapsulated every scenario possible in a potential theatre of war. Despite difficult terrain and weather conditions the troop committed to all that was expected of them putting into practice all that had been taught.
Alongside the typical ground work the troop was used too, the troop was also based at sea on ship where amphibious operations could be launched from.
The exercise saw the troop through until Thursday, the longest and most intensive field exercise the troop had experienced, but in turn filled the recruits with the confidence that their skills and drills met the standards expected of the Royal Marines, and could replicate the performances demonstrated in a unit alongside experienced soldiers.
