Training Diary-Rct Meehan-165 Tp-Week 3

Week 3 of RM Recruit training has focused on continuing to learn about our personal weapons. We spent hours in the weapon stances learning new drills, we all now feel that we are getting to grips with our lessons. We have also spent plenty of time in the gym; IMF periods have picked up in tempo, however we do seem to be getting slightly better. We were introduced to rope climbing this week; it is a completely new skill, unlike anything that we have ever done.

The best part of the week was Families Day. It was great to see our families and show off some of our new skills, especially our IMF and drill. Despite only learning how to climb ropes earlier in the week we managed 2 and a half rope climbs. The PTI’s however didn’t seem to be impressed with our sense of urgency; when our families departed we were given a bit of remedial training to make us move a bit quicker on the gym floor.

On Friday we were given long weekend leave. It was great to be able to spend some time with our families, recharge our batteries and prepare ourselves for Ex FIRST STEP next week. We now all look forward to our first Exercise in the field.
