160 Troop Diary – Week 8

160 Troop Diary – Week 8

This was a very important week for 160 Troop and was the biggest test to overcome so far in our training.  The week evolved around our gym passout.  Monday was a full run through of our gym passout routine and drill sequences.  The IMF session in the gym went well as we all dug out, worked hard and got the go ahead to complete our gym passout a week early!  The night consisted of prepping the accommodation for Coy Comd rounds.  Tuesday morning we got to grips with choke holds and locks in CQC, followed by a swimming session with stretching to relax us for gym passout the next day.  The evening was again spent prepping the accommodation for rounds.

Wednesday morning came round very quickly and it felt like judgement day.  A mix of nerves and adrenaline we hit the gymnasium and as a Troop performed to the best of our ability with everyone meeting and exceeding the required standard to achieve a ‘high superior’ pass in the gym.  Unfortunately some of the guys did not pass and it will be a shame to lose them from the Troop.  Following this was drill but this was cut short due to the Senior Corps Commission Passout using the drill square.  Our last day before leave was filled with a trip to Woodbury for a day with the Mountain Leaders on Survival techniques.  Everyone enjoyed this insight and the weather did not dampen the mood either.
