150 TROOP WEEKLY DIARY – WEEK 22 & 23

150 TROOP WEEKLY DIARY – WEEK 22 & 23

The first week back to camp had a smooth transition back into military life as the first three days were spent doing adventure training.  The Troop took part in kayaking, surfing and mountain biking in North Devon.  The most enjoyable being surfing – although by the far the hardest of the activities.  It was great fun watching others struggle and fall off.

The end of adventure training brought us back to reality as the Troop deployed onto Exercise VIOLENT ENTRY.  This was by far the hardest exercise with little sleep and a lot of yomping.  The majority of the exercise focused on Modernised Urban Combat (MUC).  This focus was illustrated by the Troop attacking CELIENI village (a military training facility) and taking it from the enemy to then construct defensive positions to protect against enemy counter attack.  The exercise also involved CBRN warfare where the Troop spent a night in the trenches.  It was seriously cold especially as it snowed all night.  The exercise concluded with more troop attacks and a final attack on a village at the end of a seven hour approach march.
