150 TROOP WEEKLY DIARY – WEEK 19
A week dubbed as ‘Death by Bottom Field’ -so named because of the two hours of bottom field everyday. Monday involved a mock run through of the bottom field pass out. The rest of the lessons throughout the week consisted mainly of ‘crash training’; this involves completing the first half of the assault course, fireman carrying to the ropes, completing a half rope climb and then cracking on with the assault course again. This sort of training was intense and left us ‘hanging out’ after every session.
The rest of the week was spent having General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) lessons; this cumulated in live firing the GPMG so that we could gain a feel for how the weapon felt when live firing. The weekend was welcomed with everyone feeling the effects of the weeks Phys and late nights because of room changes due to the Troop leaving the accommodation in a poor state of cleanliness. Everyone got lots of rest and eagerly awaited the bottom field pass out which has been brought forward to the forthcoming Monday.
